Plumbing answering service automation

Answer the leak before another plumber does.

A plumbing answering service should do more than take a message. It should distinguish an active leak from a routine estimate, collect the property and access details, check your service area, alert the on-call plumber when your rules require it, and leave dispatch with a complete request. Aplos configures that operating flow as a managed front-desk system.

Configured around your tools · monitored after launch · human fallback defined

The business change

Less chasing.
Clearer ownership.

Before
  • Emergency and routine calls reach one voicemail
  • Dispatch calls back without enough context
  • On-call staff receive avoidable interruptions
After
  • Urgency is classified using approved questions
  • Each request arrives with the necessary details
  • Only defined cases wake the on-call plumber

How it works

One defined operating flow.

The technology follows the process you approve. Every step has a source, a decision rule, an owner, and a fallback when the normal path breaks.

01

Identify

Ask whether water is actively flowing, contained, or already shut off.

02

Protect

Use approved safety language without attempting diagnosis or repair advice.

03

Qualify

Capture address, fixture, access, customer status, and service need.

04

Escalate

Alert the on-call plumber only when the agreed emergency conditions are met.

05

Book

Offer an allowed window or place a complete request in the dispatch queue.

Fit and boundaries

Useful because it knows where to stop.

A bounded system is easier to trust, price, support, and improve than a vague promise to “automate everything.”

This is a fit for

  • Residential and light-commercial plumbing companies
  • Teams balancing emergency work with scheduled service
  • Shops with defined service areas and on-call rules
JobberServiceTitanHousecall ProService FusionOpenPhoneRingCentralTwilio

This does not do

  • Remote plumbing diagnosis
  • Emergency guidance beyond approved safety language
  • A substitute for a dispatcher on complex commercial calls

Anything outside the agreed flow is handed to a person or scoped separately.

Buying questions

What owners ask before launch.

Can the answering service tell whether a plumbing call is urgent?

It can apply questions and escalation conditions approved by the company. It does not diagnose the plumbing problem; it identifies facts such as active water, sewage backup, property type, and whether the main shutoff is accessible.

Can existing customers be treated differently?

Yes. Caller lookup can identify an existing customer, open job, maintenance agreement, or recent visit and route the call accordingly.

Can it transfer emergency calls?

Yes, when the phone provider and on-call process support transfer. A fallback alert and callback task should also exist in case the transfer is not answered.

How much does a plumbing answering service cost?

Aplos Front Desk packages run from $59 to $299 per month, plus a $199 to $699 launch and configuration fee. AI phone answering begins at $199 per month; booking and follow-up are included in the $299 plan. Custom integrations are quoted separately.
